KBC Designer Wins Ruby Award for Stunning Innovative Designs

Melissa Sharp of Kitchen and Bath Concepts recently won a 2018 ASID Ruby Award, Best of Residential in the Emerging Professional category. Melissa was recognized for the renovation of a kitchen as well as the master, guest, and powder bathrooms.

The Ruby Award series is organized by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Projects are scored by third-party judges from ASID chapters across the country based on scale, proportion, creativity, originality, color composition, use of lighting, and relationship between materials, textures, and patterns.

The small kitchen of this transitional home was transformed into an open and bright space. The existing kitchen was small, narrow, and had dark built-in cabinetry that was not functional. By removing this, we were able to add in plenty of functional storage and lighting.

The master bathroom utilizes soothing colors, unique materials, and specialty features. The secondary bathrooms of this residence also received a complete makeover with a new design inspired by bright, fresh colors. The master bathroom had a very dated and closed-off feel to the shower and an extremely oversized deck-mounted tub. By removing both and reversing them, we were able to create an open air, curb-less shower with a focal wall paired with a functional free-standing tub.

We maintained the layout of this space, yet we were still able to make the space feel more open and welcoming. We were able to add in storage that had very specialized custom elements fit for the homeowner’s taste while maintaining the elegant aesthetic of the design.

It takes a talented team to bring our award-winning designs to life! We are so proud of Melissa Sharp to have received this wonderful distinction from the ASID Texas Gulf Coast chapter! Scroll through the rest of our portfolio to inspire your next design project!
